March 707 Can-Am Road America 1971 #47 DNF G. Dewar 1:18

The March 707 Can-Am #47, driven by Canadian racer Gordon Dewar, was entered by JND Racing at Road America on August 29, 1971, but retired when Dewar became ill after qualifying 14th. Dewar was an experienced Canadian competitor who had previously raced McLaren Can-Am cars and also competed successfully in Trans-Am. His March 707 was a particularly striking mid-engine Group 7 prototype, featuring open bodywork and a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter Chevrolet V8 driving the rear wheels. Finished in red and silver with STP sponsorship, the lightweight 707 combined enormous American V8 power with the compact, purpose-built chassis and aerodynamic bodywork of March Engineering, making it distinctly different from conventional production-based race cars.
