The 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8 No. 45, entered by Porsche Kremer Racing, achieved an outstanding eighth-place overall finish and second place in the GT 3.0 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Driven by Swiss racer Paul Keller, German team owner and driver Erwin Kremer, and fellow German driver Clemens Schickentanz, the car completed 316 laps in one of endurance racing's toughest competitions. Powered by a naturally aspirated 2.8-liter flat-six boxer engine producing approximately 300 horsepower, the RSR featured distinctive widened wheel arches, a lightweight body, and a rear-mounted engine that delivered exceptional handling and traction. Its white bodywork with striking red Kremer and Shell sponsorship reflected the private team's competitive spirit. This impressive result demonstrated that Porsche's production-based 911 could successfully challenge purpose-built racing prototypes, establishing the Carrera RSR as one of the most respected GT endurance cars of its era.
