The 1993 Porsche 964 Carrera 2 Cup #54, entered by Belgian Team Paduwa, competed in the legendary Spa 24 Hours endurance race with drivers Marc Piessens, Ivan Viaene, and Tim Joosen. Based on the 964-generation Porsche 911, this competition car combined the classic rear-engine layout and air-cooled flat-six engine with a race-prepared chassis, upgraded brakes, and lightweight construction. Its white bodywork, period racing graphics, gold-colored wheels, and prominent rear spoiler give it a distinctive early-1990s GT racing appearance. The #54 qualified 26th but unfortunately retired because of a wheel problem. The 1993 Spa 24 Hours was also unusual because the race was stopped after approximately 15 hours following the death of Belgium’s King Baudouin. This Porsche represents the independent teams that brought production-based 911s to one of Europe’s most demanding endurance racing circuits.
