The Porsche 911 (996) GT3-R #81, entered by Manthey Racing GmbH, competed in the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by German racer Uwe Alzen, Dutch Porsche specialist Patrick Huisman, and Italian driver Luca Riccitelli. The team finished 13th overall and first in the LM GT class, securing Manthey Racing’s first Le Mans class victory and establishing the team as a major force in Porsche endurance racing. This white GT racer, decorated with Mobil 1, KTM, KONTEC, and Worldwide Express sponsorship, featured a 3.6-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine producing approximately 420 horsepower, a six-speed gearbox, and the classic rear-engine layout that defines the Porsche 911. Its combination of reliability, balanced handling, and endurance-focused engineering helped it triumph over stronger-powered rivals during one of motorsport’s toughest 24-hour races.
