The McLaren 720S GT3 (Evo) #5 was driven by Benjamin “Benji” Goethe for Optimum Motorsport in the 2025 Macau GT Cup – FIA GT World Cup, held on the demanding Guia street circuit. Goethe is a young German GT driver and McLaren factory driver, known for competing in GT World Challenge Europe and endurance events such as the Dubai 24 Hours and Asian Le Mans Series. The Macau event was particularly notable because it was Goethe’s first appearance at the legendary street circuit, a narrow and unforgiving track where drivers race just inches from the barriers.
What made the car stand out was its distinctive Gulf-inspired livery and the fact that it was the only McLaren 720S GT3 Evo entered in the 2025 FIA GT World Cup, marking the brand’s return to the event after several years away.
