The 1956 Maserati 300S 3.0L Spider #1, driven by French racing stars Jean Behra and Louis Rosier, won the 1,000 Kilometres of Paris at Montlhéry on June 10, 1956. Jean Behra was a fearless, highly accomplished driver who competed in both Formula One and sports-car racing, while Louis Rosier was an experienced racer and Le Mans winner. Their Maserati featured a 3.0-liter, naturally aspirated straight-six engine with dual overhead camshafts, producing a distinctive racing sound and strong performance. Its lightweight open-top body, front-engine layout, and finely balanced chassis made it a formidable competitor against Ferrari’s sports racers. The #1 victory remains a standout achievement in the Maserati 300S’s celebrated endurance-racing history.
