The 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 No. 22, entered by Silk Cut Jaguar and developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), delivered an impressive fourth-place finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Powered by a magnificent 7.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 producing approximately 750 horsepower, the XJR-9 combined tremendous straight-line speed with sophisticated aerodynamics and endurance-racing durability. Driven by Derek Daly, Larry Perkins, and Kevin Cogan, the No. 22 completed 383 laps over 24 hours, helping demonstrate Jaguar's strength against the dominant Porsche prototypes. Its striking purple, white, and yellow Silk Cut racing livery and thunderous V12 soundtrack make this XJR-9 a memorable example of Jaguar's return to the top of international endurance racing.
