The 1975 Porsche 930 Turbo 3.0 was the groundbreaking first production 911 Turbo and a landmark in performance-car history. Its rear-mounted, air-cooled 3.0-liter turbocharged flat-six produced 260 PS, giving the 930 a top speed of approximately 155 mph and 0–62 mph acceleration in about 5.5 seconds—astonishing figures for the mid-1970s. What truly set it apart was Porsche’s successful adaptation of motorsport-derived turbocharging for everyday road use, including boost-pressure control that helped make the powerful engine more manageable. Its dramatically widened body, iconic fixed “whale-tail” rear spoiler, larger brakes derived from the Porsche 917 race car, and distinctive Fuchs wheels gave it an unmistakable presence. Produced from 1974 through 1977, the 3.0 Turbo established the formula that would make “Turbo” synonymous with Porsche performance for decades.
