loading...

The McLaren-Ford M23 #11, driven by British racing star James Hunt, won the 1976 Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, an important victory in his dramatic battle with Ferrari’s Niki Lauda for the Formula One World Championship. Hunt qualified second and won the 75-lap race by just 0.92 seconds, demonstrating his fearless driving style and exceptional speed. The M23 was powered by a 3.0-liter Ford Cosworth DFV V8 producing around 465 horsepower, paired with a six-speed gearbox and housed in a lightweight aluminum monocoque chassis. Its iconic red-and-white Marlboro livery, low-slung aerodynamic bodywork, and proven reliability made it one of McLaren’s most successful Formula One cars of the 1970s. Hunt went on to claim the 1976 World Drivers’ Championship, defeating Lauda by a single point.
