The De Tomaso Ghia Sport 5000 #191, driven by Italian racer Roberto Bussinello in the 1966 Mugello 500 km, was an exceptionally rare and experimental sports prototype. Bussinello was an accomplished Italian driver who raced extensively for Alfa Romeo, including the Targa Florio, Nürburgring, and Sebring, before taking the wheel of the De Tomaso. The Sport 5000 was powered by a 4.7-liter Ford 289 V8 mounted in the middle of an innovative backbone chassis, with lightweight aluminum bodywork and a five-speed gearbox. Only one Sport 5000 was built, making it far rarer than contemporary Ferrari and Porsche prototypes. Unfortunately, Bussinello's #191 retired on the opening lap of its only World Sportscar Championship race, but the car's unusual combination of Italian design, American V8 power, and its connection to Alejandro de Tomaso, Ghia, and Carroll Shelby makes it a fascinating piece of racing history.

This model is hand painted and polished to a beautiful finish and has a sealed body. Resin models are
exceptionally accurate of scale, shape and detail. Each model is created using a variety of production
processes, to achieve this precision. They are produced using a composite material referred to in the
industry as “resin”. Photo etched parts, die-cutting, tampo printing and waterslide decals are often used
for the most authentic replication.
