The 1965 Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 “Sharknose,” chassis SN6537GT, in Red is a striking example of Ferrari’s grand-touring philosophy, combining elegant Pininfarina coachwork with a potent 4.0-liter Colombo V12 producing approximately 300 horsepower. Its most distinctive feature is the dramatic Series I four-headlamp “Sharknose” front end, giving the car an unmistakable appearance unlike most contemporary Ferraris. The 330 GT 2+2 also offered genuine seating for four, a longer wheelbase for improved comfort, and Ferrari’s sophisticated independent suspension and four-wheel disc brakes. Chassis SN6537GT is particularly interesting because it belongs to the transition period when Ferrari was introducing the five-speed manual gearbox, adding greater flexibility to the V12 grand tourer. With its front-mounted V12, elegant red coachwork, unusual four-lamp nose, and combination of high performance and long-distance comfort, the 330 GT 2+2 stood apart from both smaller sports cars and traditional luxury GTs of its era.
