The Porsche 919 Hybrid No. 18 secured pole position for the 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking Porsche’s return to the top of the starting grid after an 18-year absence. Driven by Neel Jani, Romain Dumas, and Marc Lieb, the prototype set a blistering qualifying time of 3:16.887, with Jani behind the wheel for the record-setting lap. Its advanced powertrain combined a 2.0-liter turbocharged V4 gasoline engine with an innovative hybrid system that recovered energy from braking and exhaust gases, delivering additional electric power to the front wheels. Porsche swept the entire front row, with its three 919 Hybrids qualifying first, second, and third. The No. 18 was a showcase of cutting-edge endurance technology and a landmark in Porsche’s Le Mans comeback.
