The Porsche 919 Hybrid Evo No. 1 was an extraordinary demonstration of Porsche engineering, created to showcase the full potential of its three-time Le Mans-winning LMP1 prototype without the usual racing regulations. On April 9, 2018, Swiss Porsche works driver Neel Jani stormed around Spa-Francorchamps in a record-breaking 1:41.770, beating Lewis Hamilton’s previous Formula One benchmark by 0.783 seconds. The Evo featured a 2.0-liter twin-turbo V4 hybrid powertrain producing up to approximately 1,160 horsepower, enhanced aerodynamics generating 53% more downforce, and a reduced weight of just 849 kilograms. Reaching 359 km/h on the circuit, this remarkable machine proved just how far endurance-racing technology could be pushed.
