On November 15, 2007, Wilmer Cooksey Jr. announced his retirement as Corvette® Assembly Plant Manager in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Wil's lifelong passion for Corvettes® was reflected in his 15-year contribution to the stellar production of C4, C5 & C6 Corvettes®. To commemorate his retirement, GM released a special edition 427 Z06 Corvette®. Limited to just 427 cars in the U.S. and Canada and an additional 78 for export outside North America, each was signed and numbered by Wil Cooksey Jr., with a total production of only 505 worldwide. All 505 cars were painted in Crystal Red Tintcoat with Stinger-style graphics and "427" hood badges reminiscent of the 1967 427 Corvette®. To further distinguish this Z06, each car received new spider-design chrome wheels. Atop the legendary LS7 505 horsepower engine and 6-speed manual transmission... a worthy tribute to Wil Cooksey Jr. Wil retired only after personally overseeing the final production of these special edition Corvettes®.
