Held on October 12, 2003, at Suzuka, the Japanese Grand Prix Rubens Barrichello took pole position and delivered a flawless drive to secure his 7th career Formula 1 victory. Barrichello’s win kept rival Kimi Räikkönen in 2nd place, effectively protecting Michael Schumacher's title lead. Michael Schumacher endured a chaotic race, suffering early wing damage after colliding with Takuma Sato. After dropping to 20th position and later brushing wheels with his brother Ralf, fought back to finish 8th.
That single 8th-place point was precisely what Schumacher needed to seal the 2003 World Drivers' Championship. The Japanese GP marked Schumacher’s historic 6th World Title, officially surpassing Juan Manuel Fangio’s 46-year-old record.
Ferrari’s combined points performance at Suzuka also secured their 5th consecutive World Constructors' Championship.
