The Ferrari 296 GT3 DragonSpeed — 2025 Watkins Glen combines Ferrari’s modern GT racing technology with the American team DragonSpeed’s competitive endurance-racing heritage. Based on the Ferrari 296 GTB road car, the GT3 racer replaces the road car’s hybrid powertrain with a competition-focused, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, sending power to the rear wheels. Its sculpted aerodynamic bodywork, wide fenders, front splitter, rear diffuser, and prominent rear wing are designed to generate downforce and maintain stability through fast corners. At Watkins Glen International, with its long straights, challenging esses, and high-speed corners, the 296 GT3’s balance and aerodynamic efficiency are especially important. The DragonSpeed entry was car #81, driven at the 2025 Six Hours of Watkins Glen by Albert Costa and Ferrari factory driver Davide Rigon. The team finished third in GTD PRO after a late-race charge and a post-race change in the classification. Its stars-and-stripes-inspired livery gave the Ferrari a distinctive American-themed look, making it particularly memorable among the 2025 IMSA GT3 entries.
