This is the Bugatti Type 57G Tank 1937 Le Mans Winner - Pierre Wimille, Robert Benoist by Amalgam in 1:8 Scale.  Limited edition of 99 pieces.

The 57G was launched in 1936 featuring fully enclosed bodywork that prompted the tank nickname, a title first given to the Type 32. The newer car however featured much more elegant lines creating a sensation within the racing community.

For the Le Mans 24 hour race of 1937, Bugatti registered two 57Gs. The one car was driven by test drivers Pierre Veyron and Roger Labric, with Jean- Pierre Wimille and Robert Benoist in the other. After only a short while Wimille took the lead and ultimately won the race claiming the first victory at Le Mans for Bugatti with an average speed of 137 km/h - 84 mph.

In total, there were three examples of the Type 57G created in 1936 and only one, chassis number 57335, remains in existence at the Simeone Foundation Museum in Philadelphia PA.  This car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1937, the French Grand Prix, the Grand Prix de la Marne and the Grand Prix de Pau. We would like to thank Dr. Fred Simeone for giving us full access to digitally scan and photograph his car to ensure the complete authenticity and accuracy of the model.

The Type 57G is undoubtedly one of the most important cars in Bugattis history and we have lavished all our skills and several thousand hours developing this model with the invaluable assistance of Bugatti themselves.
