REVIEW BY TONY PERRONE: The Auburn Boattail Speedster may arguably be termed the all-time flagship of the Auburn line of must-have classic collector cars. And this LECC XII (Limited Edition Club Car #12) 1932 Auburn 8-100A Custom Eight Speedster is, in my opinion, the finest model offering ever from the Diecast Car Collectors Club (D4C).

The Auburn was a head-turning American made beauty that packed a 100 horse power, 268 cubic inch straight eight cylinder Lycoming motor. Equipped with a Bijur chassis lube system, Delco ride control shock absorbers, a Columbia dual ratio rear axle and a Startix auto starter, it made for some pretty heady stuff in the early thirties! If you had the money in 1932, this is what you would have bought. Whether you were a movie star, mobster or double-breasted chairman of the board.

It is crafted by hand using tooled poly-resin and precisely fitted chrome trim. The bodywork is painted with automotive paint and trimmed with photo-etched parts and clear lenses. Great attention has been devoted to its proportion and stance.

Remove the top and you’ll relish the authentic finishes and perfectly scaled instrumented dashboard with micro-decals in the gauges and foiled chrome for trim. The body is sealed so no opening doors or hood. All the breathtaking beauty of the car's flowing, classic lines are masterfully replicated. This model, in person, is exceedingly exquisite! My undying compliments to my dear friend Raffi Minasian, whose long hard hours were spent breathing life into this gorgeous replica!

Raves received abound, including these: "Beautiful model...great job on the suspension and dash." R. Sufficool- "It's one beautiful car. My compliments to everyone involved." B. Morlitz- "It IS a beautiful piece.....well worth the wait." Scott Bufe.

Under the direction of 28-year-old Alan Leamy, the Auburn Speedster body was designed as a flowing, integral unit. Critics think it's the first automotive design to escape the gravitational pull of a horse-drawn carriage. They consistently place it among the 10 most beautiful cars ever made!

We’re betting you feel the same way!

The 1:24 scale Auburn Boattail Speedster - 12th in the LECC series that stretches back to 1995.

Take pleasure in the art deco body style, raked-back grill and windshield, flowing fenders and the signature V-shaped rear end. Below that long, power-boasting hood, the Auburn Model 8-100A had a 268-cubic inch engine to produce 100 horsepower.

This is the second LECC made of resin rather than diecast metal.

Using resin-casting has allowed the D4C  to afford limited editions that are truly limited and remarkably detailed. No hood or door opens but what you can see of the car - including the interior with the top off - is lavished with essential detail.
